Blue Spirit Bourbon

This brand was created for a Bourbon company that distills their Bourbon using Southwestern Blue Corn instead of the traditional yellow corn. The inspiration for this project came from the history of Blue Corn and its roots amongst the Hopi Indians. Blue Corn, which is also called Hopi Maiz, is the main characteristic that sets this Recipe apart from other Bourbon distillers, however my branding campaign places emphasis on its Southwestern geography so as to separate this brand from the typical “Kentucky Bourbon.” In the end, the goal for the brand solution was to create a blend of Southwestern/ Hopi imagery while paying homage to the Art and tradition of American Bourbon Distillery.

Save Fort Union
Drive-In Campaign

Fort Union Drive-In Las Vegas, NM has to raise $80,000 to upgrade their equipment to digital or it will be at risk of closing down permanently. My goal as the designer for this project is to raise awareness on the issue and hopefully get more funds to support for our cause.

In order to spread the word, I first branded the “Save the Drive In” campaign so I could design posters, coasters, and flyers to spread around the community. Also, myself and another classmate from NMHU created an installation inspired by the drive in experience to enter into professional design competitions.

The last piece of this campaign is a short video that will be used for a Kickstarter Campaign.

AIGA Portfolio Review
Branding Competition

AIGA's Education Director, Andrew Wollner, opened up the branding for the 2014 Portfolio Review to Highlands Students. My design was amongst the top 3 to be picked.

Since Andrew was changing things up and holding the Review at Warehouse 508 with some skate ramps, my branding was to reflect the Edgy, yet professional look for the conference. Posters, a web banner for the site, and folder covers were my deliverables to AIGA.

4 Corners Branding
A Worldwide Advertising Project

The Four Corners area of the Southwest Includes many outdoor recreational activities and has several famous Historic Sites, including Mesa Verde, Chaco Canyon, Aztec National Monument (all UNESCO Sites), and Monument Valley.

My role for this project was to create an umbrella mark to cover all these sites so as to promote tourism to the 4 Corners Area.

The brand would be used on worldwide sites and advertisements such as Brand USA and

Discover America.com.

Another large portion of this project was creating a video to promote the activities and sites and be placed on Brand USA. All footage and edits were done by me.

Book Cover Design

This in class assignment was to design 4 book covers that will be printed and pieced together on actual books. Each book had to have a different design style.

Styles included were retro, post-modern, victorian/steam punk, and modern.

Voices of Vegas
Giving Locals a Voice

Voices of Vegas was a joint campaign that involved an NMHU class of 14 people. We took portraits of locals and asked what they would like to see happen in their community.

My role for this project was the Branding Director. The logo, branding, text placement, and posters all went through me before going out to our Instructor, Megan Jacobs. Also, I worked on adding text to the portraits and finding the location for our installation.

NMHU Advertising

I was granted the opportunity to design a double sided flyer for the NMHU Media Arts department (which went to a conference in Santa Fe), and large 25 foot high banners for the new Student Center.

2 of the banners at the Student Center have been up for around 6 months, and will be up for the foreseeable future.

Branding Objects
Repurposing Existing Objects

The original product was a small kit to help organize your room according to the rules of Feng Shui. My goal was to rebrand it.

I used the ideas of both Yin and Yang energies, and building construction to marry the two into one unified logo.
